Welcome to Your Email Finds Me... or YEFM, because I am a prolific acronymer and I have no one to answer to.
Here’s the concept: every month I hand you a small stack of backlist book recs, each one dressed up as an unhinged fictional out of office message because while I am physically at my desk, I am mentally, spiritually, and emotionally AFK. These are books I’ve read and loved, are at least six months old, and you absolutely should pick them up.
Why backlist? Because we all love chasing the shiny new release, and then we all sit in the same Libby queue behind 400 other people who also wanted it. So what do we read during the 6-week hold purgatory? That’s what this is. A little something for the in-between.

This one is a genre-bender that will absolutely gut you. Evie wakes up after an accident thinking she’s still a teenager, only to learn she’s been married for over a decade to a husband who didn’t survive the crash. As she pieces her life back together, a chance meeting with Drew, a photographer with ties to her past, starts unraveling the truth about her marriage, her memories, and the choices she once made. I went in expecting a romance meets psychological thriller and came out with something much more intimate: a tender, devastating story about first love, trauma, and resilience.

NOT ANOTHER LOVE SONG by Julie Soto
grumpy x sunshine + rivals to lovers + workplace romance + close proximity + musicians + found family
This one is pure heat, and I am not being dramatic. I devoured it in one sitting…literally could not stop. The tension between these two is off the charts, and that cello scene? (just you wait!) I’m suddenly very interested in music lessons. Xander Thorne is the brooding, irresistible bad boy of the cello world, and Gwen Jackson goes from subway busker to Manhattan Pops sensation. An unexpected run-in ignites a rivals-to-lovers dynamic that is nothing but seductive tension and scorching, will-they-won’t-they heat. (We know they will.) Strings were on repeat for days after I finished this one!!
